Mount Bohemia
Jim Halberg, his friend Burt, and I went up to Mount Bohemia this weekend. It is way up north in the Keweenaw penninsula of the UP. Bohemia is unlike any of the other ski hills up north, they don't groom any of the trails, promote skiing through the trees, do not make any snow, there is no ski lodge, and most importantly there is hardly anybody there! I think that the hill is about twice as tall as Indianhead or Powderhorn, so it was pretty challenging (only one blue square run, a few black diamonds, and then the rest double and triple black diamonds). I actually couldn't make it down a run without stopping to catch my breath. All in all, we had a good time, despite the fact that I got sick on Thursday (the day we left) and spent the whole car ride (6.5 hours) with a fever and drugged up on NyQuill. Miraculously I was feeling well enough to snowboard on Saturday. Jim took some pictures and you can see them here and read his blog of the event here.
